Rachel Calabrese graduated in May 2020 from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University with a BFA in Dance. Rachel grew up in New York studying dance where she attended the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance young artist’s program for 3 years and Talent Unlimited, a performing arts high school in Manhattan. While at Mason Gross, Rachel had the opportunity to work with choreographers Shannon Gillen, Alexandra Beller, Christian Von Howard, and Kimberly Bartosik and perform in their repertory works. She has trained with Shannon Gillen at VimVigor dance companies 2020 winter intensive, with NW Dance Project in their Advanced Platform summer intensive, and at LINK Dance Festival 2020 that was held virtually due to the pandemic. She has also trained with Jessie Young and former Gallim company member Allysen Hooks in continuing to develop her movement artistry. For the company’s latest show, she premiered a work choreographed by herself alongside her partner Sawyer Newsome under their own platform ‘NewBrese Dance’. She is more than excited to join Sonia Plumb Dance Company in their upcoming season and cannot wait for what this new chapter holds.
