Richard Pye was born in North Norfolk, England and trained in a variety of dance styles from a young age. After graduating from the Centre for Advanced Training scheme, he attended Purchase Conservatory of Dance New York and London Contemporary Dance School graduating with First Class Honours. During his studies, Richard performed with Lea Anderson on Hand in Glove at The Victoria and Albert Museum, a new work She Painted Flowers by James Cousins and Jose Limon’s A Choreographic Offering at the Joyce Theatre Limon Festival. He has danced with numerous companies throughout Europe, most recently with Rosemary Lee and Caitlin Barnett. He was SPDC’s first Artist in Residence in 2018 for Dance of da Vinci and has continued to work closely with the company on numerous projects. He is playing the role of Odysseus in Penelope’s Odyssey.
