Romancing the Stone

(2025)

Romancing the Stone is a multi-disciplinary dance project inspired by the sculptures and monuments created out of the rock unearthed from the quarries in Barre, Vermont – the Granite Center of the World! and surrounding towns. The dance infuses historical and contemporary text, music and projections into the performance.

Phase 1 begins at the ChoreoLab 2025 Residency  as part of The Junction Dance Festival. Works-in-progress showings will take place at the Barn in Corinth, VT on Friday, June 27 at 7pm and Saturday, June 28 at 3pm and at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT on July 20th at 5pm.

We are currently looking for dancers to participate in the project. Rehearsals for Phase 1 of Romancing the Stone will be held at the Dance and Movement Center and occasionally at the Barn in Corinth. Please contact director@soniaplumbdance.org for more information. Auditions will be announced soon.
