Description

Dates: July - August
Duration: 1 hour
Location: Varies
Cost: Free

8/5/21 — Hyland Park
391 New Britain Ave
HartfordCT 06106

Summer is the time for breathing in the fresh air, soaking up the sunshine and dancing outside!

Our Dance in the Parks series brings free dance classes and performances to Hartford neighborhood parks throughout July and August.

  • Family friendly classes begin at 5pm, no experience necessary.
  • Performances start at 6:30pm.

Bring a chair or a blanket and a picnic. Stay a little longer and meet the performers at our post-performance Q&As.

Check in regularly to our Facebook page, website or Instagram for location and date changes due to weather, stories and posts as we dance our way through the Summer months!

Each program will include SPDC repertory favorites and a sneak peek at Curving Into the Light, a SPDC work in progress about coming out of isolation, in collaboration with Cuatro Puntos.

SPDC Artistic Director Sonia Plumb states, "We are always striving to make dance accessible to everyone. These Dance in the Parks classes and performances are the ultimate in making dance equitable, inclusive, participatory, and enjoyable. We hope families from the city and the suburbs will pack a picnic, bring a blanket or chairs, try a dance class, enjoy a professional performance, and stay for a short question and answer with the artists."
