Privacy Settings

Privacy Settings takes a tongue and cheek, in-depth look at how our lives are connected in the world of social media and digital technology: what goes public, what remains private and the gray, often diluted areas of truth. Using Selfies, GoPro, overhead video cameras, and reality TV, the performance combines high-energy contemporary modern dance with projections both recorded and live from behind-the-scenes, overhead and on stage. Real time voting for “The Winner” ensures a different ending for every performance.

Length of Dance: 35 minutes
# of Performers: 6 plus an MC

The Sections:

I – Go Pro It
II – Window Panes
III – Who Is Watching Whom

Performances included talk-back and library discussions with local professors, psychologists and social media experts, including Mala Maticin (University of Hartford) and Marialice Curran (University of Saint Joseph). These conversations are designed to help audiences of all ages dissect our ever-changing world of social media and its impact on our lives…and our private choices.

Privacy Settings was developed during the Company’s residency at the University of Saint Joseph. Privacy Settings premiered in 2014.
