The Cure(d)
(2024)Imagine Maxfield Parrish meets the Circus on the back roads of Vermont. The British rock band The Cure shows up to play and everybody gets to dance and be whoever they want to be.
Infusing contemporary-modern dance with aerial, pole dance, and circus arts, The Cure(d) is a story confronting labeling and misunderstanding, what it means to be silenced and ultimately heard. When language is no longer an option, there is only movement, music, and silence.
The Cure(d) was presented as a work-in-progress at the Barre Opera House, Barre, Vermont, on June 14 and 15, 2024. We are currently looking for presenters for the premiere.
Here is what audiences had to say:
“An incredible experience…Visually fascinating… I felt so many different plateaus of emotions…I couldn’t keep my eyes off of the stage…The dancers were spectacular…Thank you!”
