The Cure(d)

Barre Opera House Premiere

June 14, 7:30 pm | June 15, 2 pm (relaxed, quiet performance) and 7:30 pm

Set to the music and lyrics of the British rock band The CureThe Cure(d) is a dance performance at times poignant, provocative, light-hearted, dark and undeniably deeply vulnerable. Infusing pole dancing, aerial, modern dance and circus arts, eight neuro-diverse characters confront labeling and misunderstanding and what it means to be silenced and ultimately heard. The Cure(d) is a story dance about life, arching from young love to aging parents, this cathartic dance is for those caught in the middle of transformation, highlighting the unique abilities of those “outside the norm.” When language is no longer an option, there is only movement, music and silence.

Accompanying events to promote the understanding of neurodiversity in the arts include movement workshops for the neurodiverse and the community, guest speakers, pre- and post-performance Q&A’s  with the Artistic Team and a neurodiverse friendly performance.
